We understand that each family and situation is unique and we strive to offer flexible treatment plans to find one that works best for your household. Dr. Michelle MedlinOriginally a California native, my first job ever was at the San Diego Zoo. I worked at a food stand across from the monkey exhibit, and was known for being able to make the most ice cream cones at one time! Being around the animals every day fueled my love for animal care, and in 1985 I moved to northern Arizona and began my veterinarian journey. As a licensed Veterinarian Technician, I found the real joy in caring for and helping animals.
Once I moved to Kingman, Arizona my first job was an Animal Control officer due to the three veterinary clinics being fully staffed. After 6 months I was offered a full time position as a certified veterinary technician. While working, I continued taking college classes to complete a bachelor degree. I decided in 1998 that I wanted to advance my career in veterinary medicine and applied to veterinary school. I did not get in the first year I applied, but became more determined than ever and applied again the next year at which time I was accepted into the starting class of 2000.
In August of 2000 I left my practice manager position at the local animal hospital, and moved to Washington to attend veterinary school. I graduated from Northern Arizona University in 2001 Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree, and in 2004 I received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. Since graduation, I have been practicing in Arizona for close to ten years.
Life at home includes my four legged family of 4 dogs and 5 cats. My animals are family to me, and I understand how important our four legged friends are to us! In my free time - when I have some - I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and horseback riding. I look forward to helping you keep your four legged family healthy!
Dr. Kelli Evans (Spiker)Arizona has always been my home. I spent my younger years in Buckeye, and then Dewey (near Prescott). During those years I participated in 4-H and FFA raising pigs. I grew up surrounded by a variety of farm and small animals. I graduated from The University of Arizona in 2005 with a bachelor’s in Veterinary Science and in Microbiology. In 2009, I graduated from St. George’s University vet school which is located in Grenada, West Indies. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the opportunity to live in a different country, not to mention the gorgeous beaches! My fourth year of veterinary school was completed at the University of Minnesota.
I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jose, our family and friends as well as reading and getting outdoors when able. Our daughter was born in 2014 and our son in 2016, they are the pride and joy of our lives! We have two dogs, 1 mix breed dog named Sally and a Golden Retriever named Leo. The non-furry critters include two Sulcata tortoises, chickens, and Treeco the chameleon.
I feel the human-animal bond is so special and plays such an important role in our lives. Your furry friends will be treated as our own at North Buckeye Animal Hospital and I look forward to meeting your family!
Dr. Andrew TornellAs an Arizona native it was quite a shock experiencing the cold and snowy winters of upstate New York, where I attended Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. I moved back to Arizona after graduating with my fiance and have worked full-time with the techs and doctors of Goodyear Animal Hospital and more recently, Westbrook Animal Hospital. I enjoy all aspects of veterinary medicine but have a special interest in ophthalmology, dentistry, and small mammals.
My fiance and I live with our 2 amazing cats, Arwen and Strider, in northwest Phoenix. When we are not working with animals, we enjoy many indoor and outdoor activities including photography, gymnastics, Broadway shows, board games, and occasionally horseback or motorcycle riding throughout the Sonoran Desert.
Dr. Zue WebsterHola! I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, where I attended the University of Puerto Rico for my bachelors’ degree in biology. All through undergrad I worked as a veterinary technician in different clinics and shelters, as becoming a veterinarian was always my goal. I decided to move from my Caribbean island, Puerto Rico to another one; Grenada, to attend vet school at St. Georges University. I finished my clinical year at University of Tennessee, and decided I was happiest living somewhere sunnier and warmer, so I moved to Phoenix to join the family at North Buckeye Animal Hospital. Having been in the vet field for some time now, there are many areas I enjoy, such as feline medicine, internal medicine, surgery, preventive care and of course, helping pet parents get the best care for their pets.
When I’m not at the hospital, I enjoy being outside, dancing and trying out different places to eat. Also, true to my Caribbean heritage, I enjoy anything water related, from swimming to paddle boarding to snorkeling! I am blessed to have lived in many beautiful places already, so my bucket list is included adding more stamps to my passport as I continue to travel around the world.
Dr. Hannah ElliottThough I was born and raised in the little town of Idaho Falls, ID, I am no stranger to Arizona! Tucson was my first Arizona home where I obtained my Bachelor’s of Veterinary Science at the University of Arizona (Bear Down!). Next, I traveled back to the Pacific Northwest and Washington State University where I completed my veterinary training. After four years of long, grey winters, I am grateful to be returning to the land of sunshine!
I’ve spent the majority of my life in a veterinary hospital in one capacity or another. Though my goal was always to become a veterinarian, I have served many different roles within the veterinary healthcare team. From kennel attendant to receptionist to general practice technician to emergency technician, each role has afforded me invaluable experience and skills. Now, I am thrilled to be fulfilling my dream by joining the North Buckeye Animal Hospital family as a veterinarian. Professionally, I have a particular interest in soft tissue surgery, dentistry, pain management, internal medicine and emergency medicine.
To relax, my husband and I enjoy hitting the gym, spending time outdoors, cooking together or finding a new restaurant, riding horses, and traveling as much as possible! Though we don’t have any fur babies at this time, we hope to expand our little family soon and I look forward to spoiling your pets all the more in the meantime!
Dr. Jessica WeirichI grew up in Alton, Ilinois (which is very close to St Louis, Missouri). I ended up staying in my home state of Illinois, and received my Bachelor's of Science in Zoology from Southern Illinois University of Carbondale - graduating with honors. My veterinary career started long before I received my DVM. I began as a kennel staff member and receptionist, evolving into a volunteer vet assistant at a local shelter. Additionally, I volunteered at my school’s wildlife medical clinic for 3 years, and worked as an emergency overnight surgery assistant. Together, all these experiences fueled my passion for becoming a veterinarian. I graduated from the University of Illinois’s College of Veterinary Medicine program in 2019, eventually moving from Illinois to the Valley of the Sun! While all aspects of veterinary medicine are fascinating, my specific interest includes rehabilitation, exotic pet care, and personalized medicine.
Currently, I am living with my significant other and our family of pets: A carpet python, Millie, 2 ferrets, Xena and Binxi, a Great Dane named Buddy, and Zeus, a Border Collie Beagle mix. In my spare time, I enjoy weight lifting, outdoor activities, and aerial performance and training. (Think of a circus!) I look forward to building long-lasting relationships with you and your pets for years to come!
Dr. Isabela MarmolejoI was born and raised in a small town in New Jersey (and to answer your question, no, I do not know the cast of the Jersey Shore). I graduated from Montclair State University in 2015 Magna Cum Laude with a degree in molecular biology and a minor in environmental law. During my undergraduate career, I participated in various research projects involving infectious diseases affecting NJ wildlife, while also working as a veterinary assistant at a local animal hospital.
I spent the summer of 2014 shadowing a wildlife veterinarian in South Africa, which fueled my desire to pursue a career in zoological veterinary medicine. I have had several opportunities to work with some really cool species including lions, cheetahs, giraffe, howler monkeys, kinkajou, zebras, turtles (to name a few) during externships at the Belize Zoo and San Antonio Zoo.
I received my DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2019 with the highest honors and completed my clinical training at Texas A&M University. Although I do still love my zoo animals, during my clinical year, I gained a deep interest in various aspects of small animal medicine, including neurology, surgery, internal medicine, and cardiology.
When I’m not being a nerd about animals, I like to spend time with my Golden Retriever (Oliver) and my 3-legged Australian Shepard (Duke). We enjoy anything related to the outdoors and are very excited to explore Arizona! I look forward to meeting you and your adorable pets!
